According to Sport in Spain, David Ospina has handed in a transfer request as he looks to secure a move to a club where he can play first-team football on a regular basis.

This news, if it is that, is no real surprise.

Since Arsenal signed Petr Cech last summer, Ospina has hardly got a look in apart from the few weeks Cech was injured.

There is absolutely no reason to think it would be any different next season.

There have been a number of clubs interested in signing the Colombian international who, once again, was playing far better for his country over the summer than he ever managed for Arsenal.

Besiktas were linked the most heavily but reports from Turkey claimed Arsenal were asking for too much for him (around €4m if I remember correctly) and they haven’t been heard from in a while.

Everton have also been linked.

Should/when Ospina leave it is likely we will see Emi Martinez given the number 2 role as I don’t see the club buying another keeper, and Wojciech Szczesny will most likely be in Rome.
