Lyon’s president, Jean-Michal Aulas, has disappointed Arsenal fans everywhere, by revealing that Arsenal are not interested in signing Alexandre Lacazette.

The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the club over the past few weeks with papers claiming all sorts of deals were being considered.

Not so, it seems.

“I saw Arsene during France matches and he has not told me [of his interest in Lacazette],” the Lyon man told L’Equipe.

“I don’t think it’s something and it seems Alex wants to spend this season with Lyon in the new stadium.

“He wants to know an adventure in the Champions League could be much better than last season. I think he will stay with us and we are very happy.”

Lacazette has 72 goals and 29 assists in 173 Ligue 1 games. Last season, he notched 21 in 34 (with three assists) and is said to be worth around £25m although his asking price could be as much as £40m with three years still on his contract.

This isn’t the first summer we’ve been linked with him and, despite the comments from Aulas, I wouldn’t expect it to be the last we hear of him this summer either.
