Despite being excited to play in our Arsenal Legends’ match on September 3rd, David Seaman has admitted that, at his age, his body has informed him that he really shouldn’t be playing!

The former England international goalkeeper is 52 years old but is still willing to put on a pair of gloves and stand between the sticks, especially for charity.

Speaking to Arsenal’s official website recently, he admitted that even though he’s probably too old to be playing, he’s still incredibly excited about stepping out on the pitch in front of the fans again.

“I can’t wait for it,” Seaman said.

“I’ve played in Soccer Aid recently so I had a little bit of training for that. It has all changed though, the body reminds me that we’re not supposed to be doing it at my age, especially the diving around!

“That is what you have to do though, as your brain tells you that you can but your body tells you the next morning that you shouldn’t because it really does ache!

“But it is just so special to go out and see all the Arsenal fans again pitchside. I have not been to many games, but when I do it is always special to be back.”

The big guy was and probably still is a fan favourite. It’ll be amazing to see him in action again. In the mean time, here are some of his best saves to keep you going.
