Sky Sports are reporting that Gonzalo Higuain has undergone a medical at Juventus in what is small surprise if true.

The report claims that the two sides are still in negotiations over the player whom Napoli’s president has said repeatedly absolutely, positively, will not be going to their rivals (unless Juve pay the release clause of €94m).

As we reported on Friday, Higuain was reportedly refusing to turn up to training on 25th July as he didn’t much feel like it.

Arsenal’s interest in Higuain had waned significantly in recent weeks as rumours surfaced that Wenger was not interested in paying so much for a player, closing in on 30, despite him scoring 36 goals in 35 league games for Napoli last season. There was a little boost on Friday but that could just have been agent games, using Arsenal to try and frighten Juventus. Who knows at this point.

If he is having a medical, and that’s not 100% certain at this point, then it will be one more target to scratch off the list definitively.

For this summer at least.

Sky’s ‘sources’ appear to be Gianluca Di Marzio who are claiming that Juve will now pay the full €94m, using a large chunk of the cash they will receive from United for Paul Pogba.
