French site, Sud-Ouest, are reporting that Mathieu Debuchy’s move to Bordeaux is off after the club admitted they could not afford him.

Rumoured to be close to a move back to the French side he spent the second half of season on loan with, the site claims there is now ‘no chance’ that Debuchy will sign for the Ligue 1 side.

Debuchy is expected to leave the club permanently after throwing a strop when he wasn’t handed back his starting spot immediately upon returning from injury.

Instead of putting his head down and trying to dislodge Hector Bellerin, Debuchy moaned about it and looked for the door.

It’s not yet clear how much Arsenal are asking for him, but it’s not likely to be very much given he’s 30 and only cost £12.75m to begin with.

He does, however, still have three years left on his current Arsenal deal.

At the club since joining from Newcastle in 2014, he has made a grand total of 22 appearances.

If I had to guess, I’d say he’ll probably still end up signing for Bordeaux.
