Dan Crowley is currently in Spain with Oxford United as he gets ready for life on loan in League 1.

The U’s have played two games so far, first against Alhaurin de la Torre which they won 2-0 thanks to goals from Josh Asby and James Roberts, then a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Marbella.

Crowley started the first match, getting 55 minutes before being replaced by McDonald, and was roundly praised for his performance in the middle as he supported the front two.

The Arsenal midfielder started the second game as well, this time getting 67 minutes before Giles replaced him but he could not stop his side losing to a single goal just before the break in what was a competitive game for a pre-season friendly that could have seen a number of penalties and a red card for Marbella’s number 4 when he seemed to throw an arm into the face of Oxford’s John Lundstram.

Oxford kick-off their season on 6th August with a home game against Chesterfield. Michael Appleton’s men were promoted to League 1 after finishing as runners-up in League 2 last season.
