Just yesterday Arsenal were linked with Borussia Dortmund’s Matthias Ginter and today the German club have denied reports he’s going anywhere.

Linked with a £12m bid for the young central defender, Arsenal have apparently been watching a number of young centre backs as they try to prepare for life after Per (and, not much later, Kos).

Ginter will not be one of them, at least not this summer.

Speaking to Bild, Michael Zorc, sporting director of the Bundesliga side, said “Matthias is part of our plans for next season.” [Zorc has been with the Germans since 1978 as first a player and then sporting director and extended his contract in 2014 until 2019.]

Arsenal have already (almost) signed one young centre back during this window.

Bolton’s Player of the Season, Rob Holding, has already passed his medical. We are now just waiting on him agreeing personal terms with The Gunners after the two sides came to an agreement on the fee, believed to be £2m.

He sounds like he’s going to be a quite excellent addition to the squad.
