The whole Ricardo Rodriguez situation is getting a little bit over the top now.

Wolfsburg themselves have announced there’s nothing they can do if another club makes a bit for him and agreed that he’ll probably be leaving, the 23-year-old has confirmed that he’s leaving and now the manager has – you guessed it – confirmed that he’s leaving.

“As we have recently entertained, was clear: His idea is to leave us,” Klaus Allofs said to the Swiss media.

Somehow – and I don’t know where I came up with this crazy notion – but I think Rodriguez wants to leave Wolfsburg.

The left-back, thought to be around £20m, is good pals with Arsenal new boy, Granit Xhaka and the Switzerland international has made it clear that he would welcome to idea of a move to north London. What’s confusing me, however, is the fact that everyone seems to be on the same page here – unlike the Jamie Vardy transfer saga – so what’s taking so long?

Are we so comfortable in the fact that he’s coming to Arsenal that we’ve forgotten that we do actually have to open up talks with his representatives at some stage?
