Arsene Wenger, keen to not get left in the wake of Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho’s impending spending sprees, is ready to break the bank for Bayern Munich full-back, David Alaba.

The Austrian, who featured in the Euros, is reportedly worth £40m and is a regular starter for the Bundesliga team at the age of 24.

The interesting thing about this rumour is that no huge outlets are really running with it but the player admitted himself just this month that he was a huge fan of Patrick Vieira growing up. You’d think that, with this information, they’d be running with it.

It does appear as if we’re in the market for a new left-back, which Alaba primarily is, but whether we’re interested in him specifically remains to be seen.

In the mean time, here are some of his recent highlights.
