We are in the FA WSL mid-season summer break and this is the time for the Euro 2017 qualification games. Here is the current situation group-by-group.

The eight group winners and the six best runners-up advance to the final tournament, while the other two runners-up go to a play-off from 17–25 October 2016.

Host: Netherlands qualify automatically – beat South Africa 1-0 in a friendly.

Dominique Janssen started the game, Danielle Van De Donk came on as a sub, Sari Van Veenendaal was an unused sub.

Group 1

Iceland won the big game 4-0 in Scotland on Friday. Emma Mitchell started the game and was substituted at half-time.

Both sides have 15 points, six points ahead of Slovenia; Iceland have a game in hand over Scotland. Both need a point to finish in the top two and that should be enough to be one of the six best runners-up for the team that will finish at that place.

Group 2

Republic of Ireland were defeated 4-1 by Finland on Friday and are therefore eliminated.

Katie McCabe and Emma Byrne played 90 minutes in the game.

Spain are top of the table with 18 points in six, while Finland have 12 points in five. Portugal with six points in five are still in the running.

Group 3

France won the group despite being out of form for most of the qualifiers. Romania and Ukraine will fight for the runner-up place, both side have 10 points in six games. Romania v Ukraine on the 15th of September will be decisive.

Group 4

Sweden lead the group by a huge five points margin over Denmark with three games to play. Slovakia and Poland are still in it mathematically but unlikely to make second place at all.

Group 5

Germany won their group. Josephine Henning has been selected for the Olympics pre-squad and has a good chance to make the final 18. Russia, Hungary and Croatia will battle for second place with one point separating the three sides.

Group 6

Switzerland won the group. Italy have nine points in five while the Czech Republic and Northern ireland have six points in five and four games respectively. All to play for, for the runner-up place.

Group 7

Belgium leads England by a point having played an extra game. England beat Serbia 7-0 on Saturday with Williams playing 90 minutes and Scott and Soney being an unused subs. The other Arsenal players did not make the matchday squad.

Belgium v England on the 20th of September will be decisive. But the runner-up in that group is likely to qualify directly anyway.

Group 8

Norway and Austria are level on points with 13 each but Austria has played an extra game. Wales are chasing the top two teams but trailing Norway by six points and have played five games like the Scandinavian team.

Wales, managed by former Arsenal legend Jayne Ludlow, need to beat Norway, Israel and Austria to end their campaign with 16 points and hope that Norway and/or Austria do not reach 17 points.

Netherlands, France, Germany and Switzerland are through to the finals.
