Wojciech Szczesny appeared to have been dropped for Poland’s friendly match against Lithuania, which ended 0-0.

The goalkeeper, who spent last season out on loan at Roma, was indecisive in his previous game, leading to him not claiming a cross, which resulted in a goal and his national team losing 2-1 to the Netherlands.

The hesitation wasn’t like Woj, who is usually anything but shy on – or off – the pitch.

Knowing him, being dropped in favour of former Arsenal team-mate Lukasz Fabianski won’t sit well with him but hopefully this makes him fight harder to his place.

Poland’s first match of the Euros takes place on Sunday, when they face Northern Ireland.
