Could we be loaning Calum Chambers back to Southampton?

Just two years after we bought the full-back from the Saints, the Mirror is reporting that we’re going to send him back – on loan. According to the English tabloid, it’s Southampton who are inquiring about bringing the 21-year-old back and have been for a while but Arsene Wenger has always said no in the past. Now, he’s willing to be persuaded if we sign another centre-back, since this is a position the young defender can play in.

Loaning out Chambers wouldn’t be the end of the world but if we sold him, it would be a shame. The England u21 international is underrated. Except for one or two wobbly performances, he’s been solid in whatever position he’s been thrown into and there’s huge potential there. It’s just disappointing that we don’t get to see it more.

Hopefully, Wenger continues to show faith in him, keeps him at the club and gives him more of a chance. Yeah, that’s right boss, Gabriel isn’t always the answer.
