All our Arsenal players, except for Hector Bellerin, have featured for their national teams in their opening matches of Euro 2016. Here’s how we think they’ve rated so far.

Olivier Giroud – 9.5

What more could the big man have done? His first half against Romania was a little slow and he did miss one or two chances – it’s Giroud we’re dealing with here – but in the second half he scored a beauty.

It was quintessential Giroud, he may need a hundred chances but he’ll keep on going until the last minute.

France won 2-1 and went top of Group A.

Laurent Koscielny – 7

Although Kos didn’t have a massive game, he didn’t really have to. His passing was top quality and he did was what asked of him. The goal was a penalty, which former Manchester United man, Patrice Evra, conceded and was therefore nothing to do with him.

Granit Xhaka – 9

Our new boy put in a stunning performance for Switzerland against Albania. As discussed in his player focus piece after the match, his passing was spot on and he was pivotal in the Swiss’ first ever opening victory of the tournament.

The win puts Switzerland level on points with France in Group A, behind by only one goal scored.

Aaron Ramsey – 8

Rambo grabbed an assist in Wales’ opening 2-1 win against Slovakia. Although Gareth Bale and Hal Robson-Kanu scored, his tireless work for his national side means that they sit top of Group B.

Jack Wilshere – 5

Wilsh only got a 13-minute run-out during in England’s worrying 1-1 draw with Russia. When he was on the pitch, he showed why he should have started, putting Harry Kane through for one of the best chances of the game (but the Spurs man was offside – typical), so he might get more of a chance against Wales.

England sit second in Group B, purely because of alphabetical order.

Mesut Ozil – 8

Despite having a quiet match against the Ukraine during Germany’s 2-0 win, our little genius still managed to get an assist. Honestly, it comes so naturally to him it’s sickening. And by sickening, I mean amazing.

Germany are top of Group C on goal difference.

ozil

Wojciech Szczesny – 10

Since there’s only been one game and Woj kept a clean sheet during said game, it’s hard to award him anything other than full marks, isn’t it?

After initially been dropped for one of Poland’s friendlies before the Euros, the 26-year-old is back in goal for his national team and doing his job.

Poland are behind Germany in Group C by goal different alone.

Hector Bellerin – N/A

The right-back was on the bench for Spain’s match against the Czech Republic. 10 for showing up though!

bellerin

Petr Cech – 7

Our number one goalkeeper couldn’t manage to keep a clean sheet against a strong Spain. It could have been worse and he did pull off some great saves but the 34-year-old won’t be happy with his performance.

The Czech Republic have zero points in Group D while Spain sit level top with Croatia.

Former Gunner, Tomas Rosicky, meanwhile, got almost a full match under his belt and broke the record for the youngster and oldest player to ever appear for the Czech Republic.
