Mesut Ozil and new boy Granit Xhaka have been named in the top ten best performing players at this year’s Euros so far.

Mesut Ozil came in third, behind Andres Iniesta and clear leader, Toni Kroos.

Granit Xhaka was tenth, just two points behind Tottenham’s Eric Dier.

The table, which was compiled by SPREADEX, used a points system which allocated 25 points per goal, 10 per assist, 10 for hitting the woodwork, 5 per shot on target, 5 per blocked shot in 6-yard box, 3 for every free kick won, 2 for every attacking pass completed and 2 for every shot that goes wide.

Other players from the Premier League to make the top ten include Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas (4) and Eden Hazard (7). No representatives from Manchester United, Manchester City or Liverpool made the top ten, however David Silva (12), and Wayne Rooney (16), make the top 20.

West Ham’s Dimitri Payet also made the list at 14.

Andy MacKenzie, spokesperson for Spreadex, said: “There may be a lower goals per game ratio than previous tournaments so far, however there has still been plenty of skill to admire at the Euros so far.

“Fans may have their own view of who has lit up the competition so far, but according to our spread betting Player Performance stats, German maestro Toni Kroos is the clear top player at the moment after three masterful displays in the middle of the park for the World Champions.”
