Napoli have reportedly entered the race to sign Wojciech Szczesny with the Pole looking increasingly likely to spend next season away from the Emirates again.

Spending the season on loan with Roma last campaign, Woj impressed but as Arsenal paid a portion of his wages for the duration of the loan they are not prepared to do that this season which is presenting Roma with some problems.

Now, according to reports in Italy, Szczesny is wanted by Napoli and they have even been in touch with him.

It’s hard to know if this is true or not. Woj has already said he knows what his future holds, although he can’t tell us just yet and even if he has an agreement with another club that doesn’t stop Napoli picking up the blower.

Napoli phoned to ask if Szczesny was renewing with Roma, although there is no indication at this point of what they were told.

According to other reports, Arsenal have asked Roma for £15m for Woj,a lthough I’d be very surprised if they were considering a permanent deal for him unless the player himself is pushing for it. Petr Cech is not getting any younger while David Ospina is not getting any better.

Would they really sell a player they’ve put so much time and money into developing, is still only 26 and who was once first choice?

It doesn’t seem likely to me.
