Alvaro Morata has reportedly demanded huge wages, should he leave Juventus.

The striker, who could simply be sold back to Real Madrid and sold on since they have a buy-back clause of under £25m, is apparently asking for £6m a season in wages, according to Gazzetta.

This breaks down as £500,000 a month or around £125,000 a week – give or take. To be fair, this isn’t nearly as much as Arsenal pay Mesut Ozil or Alexis Sanchez but these are proven players. Morata, while talented, is still inconsistent and jumping straight in at such a high wage bracket might not be something Arsenal are willing to let him do.

Saying this, Chelsea or Manchester United, his other rumoured destinations, would gladly pay this.

His Spain team-mate, Lucas Vasquez, however, doesn’t seem to understand the situation and thinks he should pick Real Madrid. What a surprise, considering the winger plays for the La Liga club himself…

“Hopefully Madrid re-sign Morata,” he said.

“He’s had two exceedingly good years and if that’s what the club decides it’ll be good for everyone.”

Vasquez clearly doesn’t understand that his team don’t actually want to buy Morata in order to keep him, they just want to buy him back for their buy-back clause and sell him for double the price.

Morata himself has also suggested that although he would like to play there, he understands the situation and knows he probably wouldn’t get in the team anyway.

Could Arsenal still be interested? We shall see.
