Arsenal and Chelsea target, Alvaro Morata, has claimed that he’s happy to stay at Real Madrid and fight for a place.

The Spaniard admitted recently that he realises there is a competition for first team spots at the La Liga giants but now that the move can been completed, he’s happy to fight.

“I want a team that makes me feel important and I would be ready to stay in Madrid to win my place,” he said to Cuatro, a Spanish TV station.

“I do not have to prove anything to anyone. I am a player of Real Madrid and they will decide if they want me, otherwise we will find another solution.”

Real bought the 23-year-old back from Juventus for £23m thanks to a clause in his contract. Their initial plan was to sell him on for double the price but, considering he was decent in the Euros, they may now choose to keep him.

No matter the choice, although he seems open to a move as well as staying, as long as he’s getting game time, I doubt he’ll be within Arsenal’s price range. We now seem to be pursuing other options so I suspect that ship has sailed, although I’m sure it was genuine for a while.

Morata’s Spain were knocked out of the Euros on Monday by Italy (2-0) so I’m sure progress regarding his future may speed up a little now.
