Riyad Mahrez has given Leicester City fans a new reason to feel anxious over his future at the club.

The forward, who won PFA Player of the season in May, has admitted that it’s possible that he could leave this summer.

This is the most the player has really hinted at a move so far. In fact, after the Foxes won the Premier League he insisted that he was staying. And, if reports are to be believed, we’ll be waiting eagerly.

Despite what the 25-year-old might want, The Telegraph are claiming that the Foxes want £30m for their man, which is a huge amount if we do indeed also buy Jamie Vardy for upward of £20m.

“Nothing is agreed, nothing is done,” Mahrez said, admitting that the interest from the Gunners is ‘flattering’.

“We will see. For the moment I have not made a decision. We will see. It is possible that I stay, it is possible that I leave.

“The season went very well. We have won the league which was very important. It is incredible. It was by far my best season in my career.

“I am not putting pressure on myself (for next season). It will be a season about confirming (my ability). Without pressure, I will have to work hard… Leicester is a family club. I would like to stay. I am very happy.”

I do believe we have the money, it’s just whether it’s worth it. He only cost £400,000 from Le Havre a year-and-a-half ago, remember?

It’s also worth considering that we’re not the only other team who want Mahrez. He’s a fantastic player and other clubs, like Manchester United, are also rumoured to be after his signature.

Arsene Wenger has denied interest in the forward more than once. Although this was months ago and, of course, things change very quickly in football.

It’s one to watch but, if we sign Vardy, I think we’ll turn out attentions elsewhere.
