Laurent Koscielny has spoken to the French media following France’s 3-0 win over Scotland and admitted that he’s happy with his contribution.

The centre-back put his national team 3-0 up in the 39th minute after team-mate Olivier Giroud scored a brace. Speaking after the match, Kos admitted that although he’s happy to score, he’s found the net several times for Arsenal so he knows what it’s like.

“We did the job,” he said to L’Equipe.

“I think we worked well this week in Austria, tactically. What we knew well apply tonight, both in defensive phases and ball retention. We scored three goals, we keep our defensive efficiency and is solid, so it’s good.

“I know the feeling to score for Arsenal. I am very happy to have scored. Most important, it was really the collective. The entire group is aware that if we want to succeed, it will be thanks to the group. Now we must keep our feet on the ground. This is not because we won 3-0 tonight, it will be easy next Friday. We work every day for automation come. Adil [Rami] is no novice in the France team. I trained a lot of time with him. He was able to acclimate immediately in the group. Everything goes well.”

He added, “We were more compact, more solid, more consolidated. It has erased our mistakes against Cameroon. We really worked hard this week and it showed tonight. There are only positive. I am a competitor and impatient, focused on me.”

The quotes probably sound a bit more nonchalant in translation than they were intended. His happiness over the goal comes across as a little insincere but we know that Kos isn’t like that.

The win over Scotland was France’s final friendly before the Euros so the result will give them a boost going into the tournament. Although they should have won it, results haven’t 100% been going their way recently and considering they’re hosts, they’ll be in it to win it.

From an Arsenal point of view, I’m just hoping our lads shine.
