Ronald Koeman looks set to move from Southampton to Everton in the near future, backing up what Ivan Gazidis said recently about Arsene Wenger staying at Arsenal.

Gazidis said recently that Wenger would be at Arsenal for a long time, if the board have their way, and there’s no coincidence that this comes at the same time as Koeman taking the Toffies’ job. The Southampton boss was supposedly the next in line to manage Arsenal and with his contract running out at St. Mary’s at the same time Wenger’s did with us, it looked like the perfect match.

However, something appears to have changed recently. Wenger’s position, which appeared to be on thin ice at the end of last season, has suddenly solidified and now the man – Koeman – waiting in the wings has taken a job he recently turned down.

“We have reached an agreement with Everton,” revealed Koeman’s agent, Rob Jansen, to Fox News in the Netherlands.

“Now, it’s up to the clubs.”

What’s more is that there’s quote circulating that the Dutchman only ever saw Southampton as a stepping stone, which signals that he wanted to climb higher. I wouldn’t exactly call Everton that much higher, with all due respect, but there we go.

If we were in any doubt before, we won’t be now. It looks as if Wenger is here to stay for a long time and I’m not sure how I feel about it, to be honest.
