Antoine Griezmann praised Olivier Giroud in France’s press conference, describing his efforts on the pitch as ‘unnoticed’ by many.

At Daily Cannon, we’ve always been fans of our big fan up front. Although Giroud doesn’t always look like a world-beater and his game can suffer from lapses in confidence, he’s far from the donkey the media and opposition fans paint him out to be.

Although Antoine Griezmann is the star of the show so far for France in the Euros having scored three goals (two against Ireland), Olivier Giroud has also been decent, scoring one and assisting one. However, despite some sections of the press slowly coming around to the idea that the 29-year-old isn’t a complete flop, most of the work he does off the ball, such as hold-up play, goes unnoticed.

It’s comforting, both as a fan of Giroud and probably for the striker himself, to hear his France teammates fighting his corner. He’s had a tough time recently and has been unfairly criticised at every turn, give him a break.
