Olivier Giroud believes that the 2015/16 season was one of his best for Arsenal. Okay.

The Frenchman is one of those players who thinks he’s just a tad better than he actually is. He’s by no means a terrible striker but if you look at how bad the media think he is, compare it to how brilliant he thinks he is and meet somewhere in the middle, then you get to how decent he actually is. I think we’re all in agreement that he’s good but not good enough, leading most of us to want a first choice striker to be purchased in the summer transfer window.

However, according to Oli, there’s no need. Oh no, In fact, he reckons last season was one of his best.

“Looking back, there were no so many matches it when I missed,” he said to France Football.

“Throughout the season, I was present. In the end, I still had a good season, maybe one of my best for Arsenal. Championship, I finished with six goals and six assists die ‘. I worked for the team. Even if I made passes on the bench, I have scored in important matches, such as against City or Aston Villa.”

On his critics, something that the 29-year-old has mentioned a few times, is that he simply doesn’t listen, which he repeated. All that matters is having the confidence of his coaches.

“What is said on the right and left, it did not reach me. This is something that has always been part of the lives of footballers, even for me whose background is different.Nothing has ever been easy for me. Today there are people who appreciate Giroud, others less. I have to live with.

“I know the coach watches a lot of our games, Lolo (Koscielny) and me. Confidence, it is there. Coaches (Wenger and Deschamps) give me and I try to make them on the ground. I feel really supported and it gives me even more confidence and energy to start this Euro a very good start.”

Giroud is away training with the France national squad after beating Cameroon 3-2. Despite the fact that he scored, the French fans continued to boo him. It’s therefore probably a good thing that he’s so thick-skinned.
