It seems as though the Arsenal injury curse that plagues the Emirates has now hit the Ladies’ team after being a constant thorn in Arsene Wenger’s side for years and years.

Reports suggest Leah Williamson’s freak ankle injury in the international friendly against Seattle Reign might end her season, although there has been no communication thus far from the club on the subject.

It would be such a disappointment to lose a young, versatile, quality player, after a meaningless friendly played on turf in the USA. But the team has still strength in depth with the remaining 21 players in the squad, as well as the youngsters from the successful development and u17 teams.

The 19-year-old has played a big part in the season being mainly used in defence, despite being primarily a midfielder. She has made eight appearances, starting six games and coming on twice as a sub.

Hopefully the reports are wrong and we will see Leah back on the pitch at the end of the month when the FA WSL restarts.
