Celta Vigo’s president, Carlos Mourino, may have just handed Arsenal the boost we needed.

With Olivier Giroud blowing hot and cold last season, it only makes sense that we start looking at other attacking options this summer. One such option is Spanish forward, Nolito, who has been on our radar for a long time, if the media is to be believed.

The 29-year-old scored 12 goals in 29 La Liga appearances for Celta Vigo last season and assisted seven. And, considering his release clause is only £13.8m, he could be a fantastic bit of business.

“I think that Nolito will leave Celta this year,” Mourino said.

“There are no numbers, no negotiations. He has a buy-out clause of €18m (£13.8m). Who pays it can sign him.

“Nolito is playing so well and is a player who has greatly benefited us.

“If anybody pays us the €18m, we will lose an important player.

“But at least we will have money that we have never had before to boost the squad for next season.”

Unfortunately, it does look as if Nolito could be off to Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola reportedly making him a priority. However, if he wants regular, consistent first team football, it could be a far more sensible option to come to north London.

Although there’s nothing concrete just yet, what’s clear is that Celta Vigo want the money and don’t mind where they get it.
