The Goonersphere is just about ready to kick-off with Gonzalo Higuain reportedly on the brink of signing for Liverpool.

Being an Arsenal fan can be confusing at the best of times (why was Gervinho’s forehead so big? Why does Arsene Wenger have an aversion to zips? Where is Ryo Miyaichi?) but over the past weekend, it’s been a little more so than usual.

When the news broke on Friday evening that we’d triggered Jamie Vardy‘s release clause, most of us weren’t sure how to feel. Some don’t believe he’s good enough, while the rest of us are mainly put off by his nasty attitude.

The saga got even more confusing when it appeared that Vardy wasn’t already galloping up and down the aisles of the England national squad’s plane, windmilling an Arsenal shirt above his head, kissing Jack Wilshere and telling the likes of Eric Dier and Harry Kane just what he thinks of Tottenham.

Now, with Liverpool about to sign Napoli’s goal machine, Higuain, Arsenal Twitter is wondering what on earth we’re doing not signing the Argentine ourselves after we’ve been linked with him so heavily in the past.

Cue melt down.
