According to ESPN Brazil, Arsenal have made an offer for Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa.

The 19-year-old, currently with Santos, was linked with us earlier in June when we questioned whether Arsene Wenger would realistically spend £40m (his reportedly release clause) on such a young, unproven player. However, according to the Brazilian media and – gradually – the English press, we are.

Gabigol is prolific and considering the Jamie Vardy saga is dead and buried, it’s about time we turned out attentions to other attacking options.

Just recently, the youngster confirmed that he had received offers already from several of Europe’s biggest clubs but the decision is down to his agent and parents.

“Yes, I have proposals that please me from big European clubs, but that’s with my parents and my agents,” he said.

“But I’m happy at Santos. This will be resolved soon. Santos is my home, my place, but let’s take it easy and then decide.”

The issue is, given the new working regulations in the UK, the Brazilian may might it difficult to get a work permit. However, I’m sure if Arsenal were really willing to pay that amount of money for him, they would check to see that we could actually bring him over first.
