Both Arsenal and Juventus are reportedly willing to spend £23m on the Brazilian wonderkid, Marquinhos Cipriano.

No, I’ve not heard of him either, but according to the Express, he scored 14 goals in 12 matches for Sao Paulo’s u17s. This sounds good and all but £23m for a relatively unproven youngster? I don’t see it. Not from Arsenal or from Juve. We do need another goalscorer and perhaps in a few years when his agent – or whoever else is putting out this information – chills out a bit, maybe there will be interest.

If we have actually inquired, it’s much more likely that this is about getting his asking price down than offering to pay it. But who knows? Perhaps Arsenal will surprise – or confuse – us with this one.

Because of his age, there’s not a great deal about Cipriano around. Are Arsenal really going to sign a boy who doesn’t even have a Youtube compilation dedicated to him?!
