Alexis Sanchez was named Man of the Match as Chile beat Colombia 2-0 to book a place in the Copa America final.

Early goals from Charles Aranguiz and Jose Fuenzalida in the 7th and 11th minute were enough to seal the win for the holders. They were no doubt also helped by Carlos Sanchez being sent off after 57 minutes for a second yellow after the game returned from a two-hour break because of an electrical storm.

Chile’s second goal came after Sanchez picked up a long ball from his keeper near the corner of the box, used his strength to shrug off a defender and curled a lovely shot goal ward, only to see it bounce of the post for Fuenzalida to tap in.

Sanchez was also booked in the 48th minute.

Chile won the tournament for the first time in 2015 and will now play Argentina in a replay of last summer’s final. This will be Chile’s fourth Copa America final appearance since the competition was renamed in 1975.

When the tournament was known as the South American Championship, a competition that started in 1916, Chile made the final twice but failed to win it.
