Granit Xhaka has reportedly flown to London after he admitted to a Swiss radio station (FM1) on Thursday that he wanted a deal to be completed before the Euros in June.

The midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal for a number of weeks but within the last couple of days, the gossip has gone from 1 to 100 very quickly and the Gunners lodged an official bid. According to Bild, we only bid around €25m – far less than the amount Borussia Monchengladbach’s are asking for. However, at this time, all we know for sure is that we have made an offer.

“Yesterday (Wednesday), the offer was officially confirmed,” Xhaka told FM1.

“Today, nothing has changed. For me it is important that there is decision before the European Championships.”

On Thursday night, after the comments came out, the rumour that Xhaka had flown to London to complete the deal started to do the rounds. It seemed to stem from journalist, Artan Muhaxhiri, who posted this on his Facebook page:

In addition, on Thursday, Gladbach had a casual team photo taken… guess who’s missing?

It’s probably fair to say that, as this point, only Arsenal could mess this signing up. Everyone better have their “Welcome to Arsenal, Granit” YouTube videos at the ready…
