With the Granit Xhaka deal now official, people started wondering who the next signing would be.

I didn’t.

I wanted to know how long we were signing him for, what it was costing the club, and how much he was going to get paid.

Step in Sun editor, Daniel Cutts, with all the relevant details:

£100k per week means that over the life of his five-year contract Xhaka, who is 23, will earn £26m (£5.2m per year).

This is, of course, excluding any commercial arrangements he already has.

The player wasted no time in expressing his delight at signing for the Gunners, hitting his Instagram account as soon as Arsenal let the cat out of their see-through bag.

He is expected to wear the number 34 shirt, the number he wore in Germany and at that price is guaranteed to be a starter.
