Jack Wilshere is finally back in action after spending the entire season sidelined through injury and is already back at it again with the Banter™️.

The midfielder made his grand return against Manchester City when Danny Welbeck was forced to hobble off thanks to a suspected knee injury. He was a little rusty but showed promising signs, something Arsene Wenger agreed with post-match.

Speaking afterwards, the 24-year-old admitted that it was great to be back and that now it would be fantastic if we could beat Spurs to second in the Premier League.

“We all knew the Spurs result (before the City game) and of course that motivates us,” he revealed.

“We want to finish above them and show we are the best team in north London.

“We expect to win our home games so hopefully Newcastle can do us a favour.

“I saw about 10 minutes of the first half and when I turned it off it was 1-1.

“Obviously, then you are checking your phone in the dressing room. When we saw it finished 2-1 it gave us a real lift.”

I’m not entirely sure what part of our 2-2 draw against City was supposed to demonstrate that we were ‘motivated’ considering we looked exactly like we have for the entire second half of the season: devoid of ideas and as if we didn’t know each other. The fact that we managed to even salvage a point from the clash was a surprise to most.

Saying that, finishing second, considering how flat our game has been as of late, above Spurs, who have arguably had their best season, would be rather funny.
