Jack Wilshere is probably in the vast minority when he says that he doesn’t want this season to end.

To be fair, the midfielder has only just returned to the first team after being sidelined for the entire season with complications that came with a broken foot. He’s only just building upa head of steam and getting to feature in competitive football again and then it’ll be taken away from him.

“This season has been disappointing for us – we wanted to win the league,” he acknowledged.

“If we can get third in the league we’ll be delighted.

“I don’t want the season to end – I’m just getting started, I feel fresh, hopefully I can get more minutes next week.”

While Wilshere might be feeling fresh, us Gooners certainly are not and everyone I know can’t wait for this season to finish. I feel like one of those old, stale sandwiches you see discarded on the side of the road. It’s half-squashed, most of the good stuff has been eaten away and the ants have had a go.

It started off well (our season, not the sandwich), and this looked as if it was going to be our year. Then Leicester came along with their #Fairytale, Arsenal collapsed, as everyone thought we might, and we now are most likely going to finish third. Again.

Hopefully, something major happens in the summer to instill some hope in the Arsenal fans but at the moment, I can’t help but feel as if it’ll be more of the same.
