Arsene Wenger admitted ahead of Arsenal’s match against Manchester City on Sunday that the Gunners did struggle to create chances against Norwich last weekend.

Despite winning the match 1-0, thanks to super-sub Danny Welbeck, the performance overall was more of the same. We lacked creativity and the game was pretty boring until the goal. Even when we did score, Norwich arguably had the better chances and, therefore, could have easily equalised any minute.

Speaking ahead of our clash at the Etihad, the boss claimed that we still managed to control the match against the Canaries.

“We did struggle a little bit to create many chances, but, on the other hand, we managed to remain in control and be patient,” Wenger said.

“In the second half we scored a great goal and should have scored one or two more.

“Overall I must say it was a controlled performance, if maybe not the most stylish one. We needed absolutely to get the three points, and in the end we got them.”

If we perform the same way against City, it’s unlikely that we’ll leave with all three points. Thankfully (I guess), we do play better on the road and we’ve already beaten the Blues before this season (2-1). Last season, we managed a 2-0 win on their turf thanks to a well-taken penalty by Santi Cazorla and a second half goal from Olivier Giroud. Let’s hope for a repeat performance.
