Arsene Wenger has admitted that he’s a fan of Leicester’s N’Golo Kante, who Arsenal have been heavily linked with in recent weeks.

The Foxes’ midfielder pretty much ran the show against Arsenal at the Emirates, despite us winning the match 2-1 in the final second of the game thanks to super-sub Danny Welbeck. Therefore, the fact that we’re being linked with the 25-year-old is quite exciting, even if he isn’t exactly what we need.

When questioned about Kante in his pre-Manchester City press conference, Wenger admitted that the Leicester man has been one of his players of the year.

“I think he will play in the European Championships and for me he was one of the players of the year in the Premier League,” he said.

In regards to us buying the Frenchman, the boss was characteristically vague, adding, “I cannot tell you anything now. He is under contract with Leicester. I am sure if Leicester want to sell him, they will find some buyers.”

As usual, the manager hasn’t given much away with his comments, other than acknowledging his admiration for the midfielder. However, he’s not been as cut-and-dry with his denial of signing him as he has with other players we’ve been linked to, such as Riyad Mahrez. In fact, him saying that he can’t saying anything right now insinuates that there might something to tell in the future.
