Mesut Ozil missed out on breaking Thierry Henry’s record by one assist this season.

The midfielder, who had a great season, though some may argue he started stronger than he finished, couldn’t quite manage to notch his 20th Premier League assist in our final game against Aston Villa, but he came close.

The German helped Oliver Giroud complete his hat-trick in the 4-0 win against Aston Villa at the Emirates, sending us into second place in the Premier League above Spurs who lost 5-1 to 10-man Newcastle.

If the rumours are true, we should be tying Ozil down to a new contract this summer, with the player claiming that he’s happy and keen to stay in north London. Hopefully the fact that we finished second with be further incentive and he’ll be with us for a long time yet. The fact that he didn’t have a great second half to the season means that, come August, he should be hungry for more.
