Arsenal youngster Savvas Mourgos has revealed that the player he is trying to learn the most from is Mesut Ozil and that he can’t wait to train with the Arsenal star.

Signing his first professional contract with Arsenal last month, the midfielder is left-footed and that means he feels the German is the best choice of role model.

We agree.

Speaking to Arsenal.com, Savvas said “I am looking to add more goals and assists to my game.

“I am naturally left-footed and I suppose as a consequence I look to learn most from Mesut Ozil.

“I watch him closely during games to study his movement, timing of runs, decision making.

“I have trained with the first team on a few occasions but not at times when Mesut was there but I hope that will come one day soon.

“I believe that you must always look to learn from other players at all times.

“Training with the first team also gives you a taste of the standard required to go all the way.

“It is no surprise that everything is at an enhanced level but being involved is a challenge that I enjoyed and benefitted from greatly.”

Mourgos signed for Arsenal at the start of last season after he impressed in the Ferroli Cup.

Capable of delivering intelligent passes, he also loves a dribble.

He has made seven appearances for the u21s this season, five in the UEFA Youth League and two in the U21 Premier League. He has one assist in 280 minutes.

His goals, however, for next season, involve playing more minutes. He added “I hope to be involved even more next season.

“My priority though is to establish myself as a regular with the under-21s and the under-19s UEFA Champions League team and everything else will flow from there.”

Arsenal youth expert, Jeorge Bird, describes Mourgos as ‘a diligent central-midfielder who is calm in possession’ and he certainly seems to be one we should all be looking forward to seeing more of.
