In wake of Mesut Özil reportedly delaying talks over a new contract with Arsenal, the vultures have started to circle.

The fact that Mesut wants to wait until after the Euros to talk about a new contract isn’t news. We’ve known this for weeks, which is something we’ve covered. He’s always said he’s happy but wants to concentrate on representing his national team – hardly groundbreaking or surprising.

However, German publication, Bild, has already swooped in, claiming that Bayern Munich, a team the playmaker has already been linked with, are waiting in the wings to see how our contract negotiations pan out.

Obviously, there will be other clubs watching him. A player of his calibre doesn’t just float around Europe with no interest and I’ve no doubt that Bayern probably are monitoring the situation. However, as we’ve already established that the ‘situation’ at hand isn’t anything to worry about. Simply Mesut having to repeat himself and the papers spinning it to suit their headlines.
