Arsenal target Granit Xhaka has admitted on Wednesday he is eager to learn where his future lies.

The Swiss midfielder is reportedly the subject of an Arsenal bid in the region of €43m and is looking to sit down with current club Borussia Mönchengladbach to discuss where he will be next season before heading off to Euro 2016.

“I would like to know where I’ll play next year before the European Championships,” Xhaka said on Wednesday (quotes from RP online).

“It is always a shame when during the Euros you have something else to think about.”

The same publication said on Tuesday that Arsenal have submitted an offer and a deal is imminent but there are still varying reports. RP have since been backed up by kicker and German journalist Raphael Honigstein.

However, SportBild claim there is no offer above €27.5m and Xhaka himself couldn’t clarify the situation. The 23-year-old is already thanking the club for what they’ve done for him and would have liked to say goodbye to the fans but Gladbach played their final home game of the season last weekend.

“I do not know whether or not there is even an offer,” said the Switzerland international. “I’ve had four wonderful years in Mönchengladbach and owe the club a lot. If what the media write is true, we will sit down together and decide.”

Sporting director Max Eberl says there has been no new bid.

“There is no new status,” said the former Gladbach player. “There is interest in the player, that’s clear.

“We will have to wait and see what happens, but there is no official offer.”
