Mauricio Pochettino has said that Spurs’s collapse at Newcastle was down to a ‘mental’ problem as the final day just keeps getting funnier and funnier.

The Spurs manager spoke with the press after watching his side get spanked 5-1 by 10-man Newcastle who will spend next season in the Championship.

It couldn’t have been more hilarious or Spursy if you’d planned it.

Blowing the chance to win the title, they have dropped to third place in what was a two-horse race.

Pochettino said “First I want to apologise, we are ashamed,” before adding that it was not a problem with their skill or ability but that “it was a mental problem.”

It always is with that lot. They make Arsenal look positively overrun with mental strength.

Arsenal have now finished above Tottenham for the last 21 seasons.

It also shows a measure of the two clubs that Arsenal fans have spent most of the season being angry at how their side have been performing while Spurs have been overjoyed at coming so close to the title.

It’s happened again, it’s happened again….Tottenham Hotspur, it’s happened again!
