After reports claimed that Arsenal had pulled out of the deal for Kelechi Nwakali, his agent (and brother) is saying that he’s signed for us. What’s going on here?

From what I can tell, Allwell Nwakali, Kelechi’s brother, gave an interview to allnigeriasoccer.com. In this interview, he claims that football agent, Klay Ekeocha, had nothing to do with Kelechi’s deal with Arsenal and tried to prevent it from happening.

He claimed that Ekeocha wanted to help his younger brother move to Manchester City but that the agent was more interested in money for himself than the good of the player.

What appears to have then happened, is Ekeocha approached the Nwakalis with offers from Ajax and Arsenal, and they chose the latter. However, the agent attempted to intercept the deal.

The way the story was spun by the English media, is that Arsenal had pulled out of the deal at the last minute because we weren’t willing to provide the finances that the agent was. But, as Allwell and Nwakali have confirmed, the deal with Arsenal has been completed.

“Arsenal is bigger than Ajax in developing young player,” said Allwell.

“Kelechi has signed with Arsenal, he has done a medical, let [Klay Ekeocha] sue me if he’s aggrieved not Arsenal.”
