Although Spurs are no longer able to win the League (thank goodness) that’s not stopping their hero of the hour, Harry Kane, from urging them to come above Arsenal.

The striker, who has scored 25 league goals this season, admitted that it would be great to finish above us, for the fans as much as anything else.

“It would be a really good feeling [to finish above Arsenal],” he England international said.

“It was not something we focused on at the start of the season but now we are here it would be good, it would be good for the fans.

“We all know what it means – we haven’t won the league this year, but there is still a lot to play for and that is definitely one thing. So the fans are urging us on, they were great but just disappointed we couldn’t do that [against Southampton] but there is still one more game and we will try our hardest. It is in our hands, we just have to win at Newcastle and then it’s job done.”

All Spurs need to do is draw against Newcastle away on the final day of the season (unless we somehow win by 14 goals). However, the Magpies are fighting relegation, they need more than a point just to push themselves out of the bottom three and, even then, Sunderland play Everton at home. Therefore, in theory, Newcastle should come out fighting.

On the other hand, we face Aston Villa at home, who have already been relegated and, therefore, have nothing to gain or lose from the fixture. Even though we’ve been insipid at home this season, you’d hope we can at least beat Villa.

It’ll be an interesting final day, that’s for sure.
