Former striker and team-mate of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Daniel Cousin, has urged the Borussia Dortmund player to join Arsenal over the likes of Manchester United.

Cousin believes that, in north London, with Mesut Ozil playing behind him, the world class striker will truly flourish. Although, he admits, playing at another one of the top clubs in England would be fantastic, Arsenal is apparently the place to go.

“I think he wants to move to England,” Cousin said to the BBC.

“The Premier League is a different style to Germany; it’s more physical and, for me, it’s a good moment for Pierre to move to a big club like Man United or Man City.

“Yes [he would be a success]. I think he can score more goals and get more experience with a big team. With Mourinho at Man United, and Guardiola [at City], I think this kind of coach can help Pierre-Emerick to progress.

“[He should pick]Arsenal! The team plays very well and Arsenal needs a striker to win the title next season,” the ex-striker said.

“I think if he plays with Ozil… I think he can play very well with them.”

Although the chances of us signing Aubameyang are slim, he would be an unreal acquisition. We need a big name striker and he’s exactly that. The 26-year-old scored 39 goals in all competitions last season, which is something we need. The Gabon international is incredibly clinical.

If it’s true that he does want to come to England, a big bid plus assurances that he’d be starting more or less every game could be enough to secure the Dortmund striker’s signature but it wouldn’t be easy. Wishful thinking, eh?
