Following their 4-1 win over Serbia on Tuesday, England u17s booked their place in the Euro semi-finals and will play Germany for a place in the final as well as a place at the next World Cup.

Taylor Hinds, Anna Patten and Anna Filbey started the game while Laura Hooper and Lotte Wubben-Moy, who is recovering from an injury sustained against Norway, were on the bench.

Laura Hooper came on at the 73rd minute for her Arsenal teammate Anna Filbey. The goalscorers for England were Georgia Stanway from Manchester City who got the equaliser from the penalty spot, Ellie Brazil from Birmingham City, Niamh Charles from Liverpool Ladies and Hannah Cain from Sheffield Ladies.

England won Group A with nine points, ahead of Norway with six points, Serbia with three points and host Belarus with zero points.

Spain won Group B with seven points while Germany finished runner-up with five points. Italy finished with two points and the Czech Republic with one point.

England will meet Germany in the semi-finals, while Spain will meet Norway in the other semi-final. Both games will be shown live on Eurosport. England v Germany will be played at 5pm.

The top three teams from the Euros will qualify for the FIFA 2016 u17 World Cup in Jordan, so England have a very good chance to go through either by beating Germany or by beating the loser of the Spain v Norway if needed.

England u17 have recently played Germany u17 in a non-official tri-nations tournament last December in Düsseldorf. Germany won 1-0 on the day in a tight game, so Friday’s semi-final should be another tight and highly competitive tie.
