Santi Cazorla, Calum Chambers, Tomas Rosicky and Serge Gnabry will all play for Arsenal’s u21s tonight as they face Blackburn Rovers.

None of that quad have seen much action this season when you total up their time on the pitch, with Cazorla the only one who played with any sort of regularity before first a knee then Achilles problem ruled him out.

Calum Chambers just vanished, as is the way of players with injuries at Arsenal while Serge Gnabry had an awful loan spell with Tony Pulis cut short and then vanished himself when he returned to the club.

Rosicky, as we know, has a history with injuries but with his contract expiring in the summer, he is rapidly running out of time to say his farewells on the pitch with the senior team.

With Cazorla featuring on the bench against Norwich I would expect to see him included in the squad for the game against Manchester City this weekend providing he comes through this game, especially as he is set to start against Blackburn.

How great will it be to have the tiny Spaniard back at the heart of our midfield, especially for such a key game as the one we’ve got coming up at the Etihad?

“We are looking forward to it,” Steve Gatting told Arsenal.com. “It is a game that will give the boys good experience playing at Emirates Stadium in a game that matters as much as this.

“When you win games during the season, you get that experience of playing in bigger matches such as this.

“We want to be in Division One with the top clubs like the Manchester teams. It is not the end of the world if it does not happen. If it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen – we will go on.

“It is a difficult league and it has been a challenge for the boys, which is what we really want. The league is there to develop them into first-team players.”
