Arsenal target, Islam Slimani, gave an interview to Record, in which he laughed at his £12m valuation by Transfermarkt.

The striker is apparently wanted by numerous European clubs, including Arsenal and the 27-year-old appeared offended by his estimated price tag, claiming that Transfermarkt don’t exactly know what they’re talking about. Ouch.

“I don’t know how to make evaluations. Transfermarkt don’t know how to score goals,” he said.

“Each one does what it does best… but only £12m?”

Slimani is then said to have actually laughed.

To be fair, he’s got a point, the Sporting Lisbon star has managed to net 26 goals in 31 appearances in the Portuguese league and has also nabbed six assists. It’s rare that the striker misses a game, having appeared 44 times in all competitions for the club, and he almost always plays the full 90 minutes. To me, if he is only £12m, that sounds like a steal.

The Algeria international admitted that, as amused as he is at his valuation, he’s only focused on Sporting right now and doing the best he can.

“The fans know me and know my commitment and dedication to Sporting,” he said.

“I can assure the fans I’m here to give them happiness, and we will strive to get the title.”

Sporting sit two points behind Benfica at the top of the Portuguese Liga table with two matches left to play.
