With two years left on his existing Arsenal contract, the club are eager to tie Mesut Ozil down and are allegedly in talks with the German’s representatives.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are more than happy to give the playmaker whatever he wants, which is supposedly around £200k a week (mere pennies), and both parties are positive that the negotiations will lead to a new contract and Ozil staying in north London.

To be fair, the 27-year-old, who has racked up 18 assists in the Premier League alone this season (42 total in all competitions since he joined in 2013), has made no secret recently that he’s happy at Arsenal and has no immediate plans to leave. Much to the relief of most Gooners, it genuinely does look as if our little genius is staying, at least for a few more years, and the rumours linking him with other teams are a load of rubbish.

Alexis Sanchez, on the other hand, is a different kettle of fish entirely

Ozil was left out of our 2-2 draw against Manchester City on Sunday with a slight hip injury but, according to Arsene Wenger, is back in training and should appear in our final fixture against Aston Villa at the Emirates.
