Arsene Wenger responded to claims that Arsenal are trying to sign Riyad Mahrez again.

The Leicester City forward has been one of the Foxes’ stand-out players this season. The 25-year-old has scored 16 goals in the Premier League and assisted 11 – a fantastic return.

We’ve been linked with the Algerian loosely for a while now but over the last couple of weeks, the reports have begun to gather speed. Despite Wenger previously rubbishing claims that we’re looking at anyone properly right now, he was forced to deny them again in his press conference ahead of West Brom.

“No, and even if there was I would not speak about that at this stage of the season [out of] respect to Leicester,” he said.

Honestly, Mahrez would be a fantastic signing. However, it’d take a lot to prise him away from Leicester, especially if they win the League. I don’t see Wenger even attempting to sign him right now. I’m disillusioned and disheartened, and don’t see us adding anyone to our squad before next season. Although that might be my bitter Gooner heart talking.
