Arsene Wenger was characteristically vague on transfer rumours in his press conference ahead of our match against Watford.

The boss was questioned about Granit Xhaka, a player we’ve been heavily linked with recently, and, as usual, he neither confirmed or denied the link. He did, however, confirm there is a little list of players he’s looking at.

“At the moment we are starting to analyse players and get little lists of names, but I don’t think it’s the time for us to come out with names,” he said.

Wenger then joked: “I will send you the list if you want!”

Arsenal allegedly met with Xhaka’s father recently – something the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder has since denied.

I think we know by now though that whatever Wenger says in press conferences regarding signing new players can’t strictly be trusted. For example, when he decided to claim he didn’t know who Santi Cazorla was shortly before we signed him.

I’m sure we are looking at players. If Wenger is indeed entering into his final year in charge at Arsenal, I do get the feeling he might just go all-out and buy in some big names. Although that could just be wishful thinking on my part!
