Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger has spoken to the official club website, telling fans that a quartet of injured midfielders are edging ever closer to first team action.

However, we won’t see any of them this weekend.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Santi Cazorla are both waiting to come back to first team training as you have to begin to wonder whether we’ll see them again this season and – indeed – if England and Spain will have them available for selection at Euro 2016.

“Next week they will be back maybe,” Wenger said. “They are not back in full training yet. They are still on fitness work.”

There is more positive news for Jack Wilshere and Tomas Rosicky, who are set to make their second appearances for the u21s in the space of a week.

“Jack and Tomas are playing (on Thursday) for the under-21s. They have had no reaction from last Friday’s game and they look alright.”

The Gunners disappointingly drew with West Ham United last weekend, surrendering a 2-0 lead shortly before half-time and coming back to snatch a point with a third goal in the second half.

One positive, though, was the return of Aaron Ramsey, and he didn’t suffer any setbacks on his comeback from a muscle issue.

“From last Saturday’s game against West Ham, we should have everyone available who was in the squad.”
