Wojciech Szczesny has given the biggest hint yet that he won’t be returning to Arsenal.

The goalkeeper has been on loan at Roma, who have been rumoured to want to either extend his spell in Italy or sign him on a permanent deal. However, at the end of the day, it’s down to the player and now we have Petr Cech in north London, Woj appears to be keen on staying in Serie A.

Speaking recently, the Poland international said to Roma Radio, “Will I stay at Roma? For me, football always comes first. I have the confidence of everyone here.

“When you have the trust of your teammates, the Coach and the fans, as well as playing every Sunday, then that can only be for the best.

“Obviously it’s not just thanks to me, but everyone who has helped me.”

If Woj returned to Arsenal, he would be in the same position as David Ospina is now: our cup keeper or back-up to the more experienced Cech. However, he would be learning under one of the best goalkeepers in the world, which is worth considering.

If Wenger wants him at Arsenal, I’ve no doubt he could persuade Woj to come back. However, this is the issue – does Wenger want him back? Dave hasn’t been too bad recently and kept another clean sheet in our 4-0 win against Watford. Although the Colombian has also been heavily rumoured to be on the way out, if he knew he had Wenger on his side I’m sure he would stay.
